Welcome
Hello everyone and welcome to AS Media Studies!
We are very excited to be following a new brief this year of an opening sequence to a film genre of your choice. Hope you don't find blogger too annoying everyone masters it in the end and it's how we send all your work to the examiners.
Miss Shuttle and Miss Brookes are always at hand to help so don't hesitate to ask.
Good luck in all your A level choices.

Marking of your blogs
Hi all,
As I said, I am currently marking your blogs this half-term. I am through a few of them and have major concerns. For a start, it appears most of you are missing your evaluation questions. You need ALL 7 of them on your blog. Secondly, your blogs need to be laid out in the older format - as your labelling/organisation is terrible and I am struggling to navigate them to access the information needed. This is seriously detrimental to your grade - the examiners will not be impressed!!! Thirdly - your evaluation questions must be detailed - one paragraph of writing is not sufficient. They also must be visual and use a range of media to present it. At the moment, evaluations are very poor.
We literally about a week to turn it around when we get back. On top of preparing for exams. You must, must, must try to improve these before you return to school. Your final grade depends on it. Email me any questions - shuttle@bchs.essex.sch.uk

Exemplar student blogs
Your planning and research is nearing an end. Please have a look at exemplar student blogs to ensure that all your work is up to date and ready for assessment before your final production is complete. Just one person can upload the others' work and you can then get it off their blog.
Here are some exemplar student blogs, have a look at their planning ie storyboards and productions.

BFI Film openings
I think everyone found the event very useful, we finished by marking other student work and we shall do more of this in class. Please share notes with those who couldn't attend. What I got from it as a teacher that I would want to pass on to you is:
A lot of filming practise and editing help avoid any major disasters on real shoot
Make clear the genre, narrative (enigma), character, atmosphere and setting in your synopsis from task list
Plenty of research into similar genre and real and student openings - youtube G321 or AS Film openings or just film openings
Music/Foley 50% of the atmosphere
Titles research very important gets taken for granted. One title research task each feedback to your group.
Keep taking pictures of everything you do for your blog. Also keep copy of different editing stages. Blog, blog, blog
Cover Work: NSE: 7th November
Hey Guys,
For this lesson you need to:
Upload production diaries onto blogs.
Complete LAP Charts for lesson, including objectives.
Upload feedback from presentations.
Continual individual planning and research.
You must stay in 107 and I will be down at the end of the lesson to check that this is complete.
